30 Day Challenge: The Cleanse

Cleanse For Life Liquid

My quick-witted readers will have noted that I have now moved beyond the 30 day limit. Heck, I’m just doing another 30 days, why not? It’s doing well for me. I’m not going to be doing this forever, but for now it is working.

Yesterday I did a complete cleanse day for the first time – no regular food at all. The hardest part was sitting at the dinner table with my husband and children and sipping on my drink … the look on my husband’s face was priceless. But he’s the one who took the pictures in my results post, so he said nothing. I got those results, I should add, while not having the benefit of complete cleanse days, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I do this time around.

The idea of the cleanse is to give your digestive system a rest, which in my case is a good idea anyway. The cleanse drink is very gentle and supportive of the body (no laxatives or diuretics), and furthermore some genius came up with eating CHOCOLATE for the rest of the nutrition of the day. The IsaDelight Plus chocolates really hit the spot.

There are also snack wafers you are supposed to dissolve in your mouth if you are feeling hungry. They are OK. Unfortunately for me, only the non-dairy berry ones are kosher, so I can’t tell you what the other ones are like. I keep them in a little box in my purse and they have saved my blood sugar more than once. They aren’t as happy-making as the chocolates, though.

The other secret ingredient to the cleanse is drinking large amounts of water. I am so grateful to my friend Sarah for directing me to the iDrate app, I’m having a lot of fun keeping track of my water. I’ve just ordered myself a new insulated water bottle, a great big one, because I got tired of having to refill my 500 ml ones! So as you can see, water is a big part of this deal.

Today I’m back on the shakes, and it definitely tasted good to have my blueberry vanilla shake this morning. I’ll have another shake for lunch, and probably salmon and vegetables for dinner, yum. Snack wafers and chocolates will be consumed as required, and I expect nuts and cheese will make their appearance, too. It’s a good thing.

What will your day look like?
