You Are Not Broken

Friday, September 2nd, 2016

You've always been beautiful I’ve been reading various articles indicting “the diet industry” of profiting from the misery of people, especially women, who believe they are broken and need to be fixed. (more…)

The Power of Why

Wednesday, November 25th, 2015

Lady with gramophoneIt’s that time of year again – the streets are decorated, the malls are full of music, and there’s festive food everywhere. It doesn’t really matter what culture you come from, if it originated in the Northern Hemisphere, chances are you have some sort of observance happening around the winter solstice to celebrate the return of the light. Gun Control #2 – Getting Started

Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

Gun, October 12Welcome to the second day of Gun Control! Yesterday I took some measurements – my right bicep is currently 31.5 cm around. Yes, it’s not a pretty picture. I also weigh 62.7 kg – that’s almost 138 lbs, at 152 cm, or 5 foot nothing. Ouch. Work to be done. (more…)

Review – iHomeFitness.com

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

So … I went to a networking meeting the other week, and I met a lovely young lady named Ruth-Anne Penner.

Ruth is a fitness professional who used to work at the Reh-Fit, and now she’s got her own company, iHomeFitness.com. It’s a virtual gym where you can watch over two hundred 20-minute videos and exercise right in the comfort of your own home. Or, if you are a gym rat like me, you can bring your videos to the gym and play them on your phone. My favourites so far are the yoga videos, but the Sumo Squat example I’ve shown above is pretty cool, too. Do it right in your office!

Here’s how it works. You pay a monthly fee (although don’t forget to take her up on the free week to try it out first!), and have unlimited access to ALL the videos. There’s also a blog with recipes, stories and thoughtful articles on various fitness- and health-related topics. Ruth is passionate about helping people become the best they can be (and she has very strong views on the body-shaming industry out there). In September, for example, she will be starting a 28-day challenge to help you replace your bad habits with good ones. Don’t forget to visit the Local Resources page to see all of Ruth’s favourite fitness-related vendors.

Check it all out, and do please tell her I sent you!

And the best part? If you decide to combine Ruth’s wonderful fitness videos and my Isagenix coaching and products, you’ll get a MONTH (rather than a week) of her site FOR FREE. Once you’ve signed up with me, I’ll give you the code. But don’t wait too long, this offer expires at the end of the year.

OMG I Made a Video – an Important One

Tuesday, July 29th, 2014

Today I did something I’ve never done before. That’s why there is no pretty Flickr picture on this post. I brought up Movie Maker on my computer (did I even know I had it?) and made a video of me talking into the webcam. Sitting outside on my deck, no proper background, not well centred, not edited, not a good video at all. But an important video. (more…)

Sigh. Life never goes the way you want it to, does it? Sometimes you just have to accept the signals from the Universe telling you to SLOW DOWN. (more…)

Summer Body Shaker!

I’ve come to the conclusion that Erin Postle is one of my favourite people. She’s a former high school counsellor who became a weight loss coach, nearly bankrupted her family, then went on to achieve health and wealth with Isagenix. I’ve had the good fortune to talk with her quite a few times and I find her to be an effective coach, who really enjoys working with people and improving their lives. (more…)

At this time in years past, this blog has been adorned with pink badges and pleas for money. I was very successful in raising funds from my generous friends. But this year, I’m not doing it. Here’s why. (more…)
